Here is Jennifer at work in the lab. What is she doing?
Glad you asked!
"I pour up impressions for the models, trim study models and finish the study models, bend the wires for retainers and bite plates, and trim and polish retainers and bite plates. For models I use a vibrator to help get the air bubbles out of the stone or plaster and to fill the impression. On study models first I use a vacuum spatulator to help take even more air bubbles out. I use a model trimmer to finish the study models." "To make retainers and bite plates it depends on the type of appliance needed for the individual patient. First, after wires are bent, we would use either the Triad Unit to cure a transheet material or a vacuum unit to suck the material onto the model. Then for trimming I would use a handpiece and finally a lathe with several wheels for polishing." |
